Are these the best Christmas lights of any Cambridgeshire town?

Whatever their inspiration (maybe it also being the year the movie Back to the Future was released?) but a gathering in a Fenland town felt they knew what their community might like.

And so began the inaugural Chatteris Christmas Lights – which over the years have drawn tens of thousands of visitors.

2022 has been no exception with word of mouth (and social media of course) spreading the news that this year’s are as good, if not better, than ever.

Our photographer from CambsNews paid a visit and he, too, was delighted to see them (his daughter doubly so).

On their website the lights committee agree their efforts “are recognised as the best display for many, many miles around and the scheme is acknowledged as superior to those in much larger towns and cities”.

But they also point out that the committee “is entirely voluntary and the results of their many hours of hard work, before and after the switch on event, are enthusiastically appreciated by the residents and visitors to Chatteris over the festive season”.

Throughout the Christmas season you can pop into Chatteris and see them daily – they are lit up from 3pm until midnight.
