PCSOs in Huntingdon issue 100 parking tickets in first few weeks

Police issued a photo of a PCSO issuing a parking ticket to alert residents of a Cambridgeshire to get their parking priorities in order.

Ruben Borges and Amber-Rose Hutchinson started their PCSO careers in Huntingdon last month and “hit the ground running” says Cambridgeshire Police.

And in the first few weeks they have, between them, issued more than 100 parking tickets.

A police spokesperson said: “The pair have reignited confidence within the town centre with their presence and community engagement.

“In their first week alone, they helped arrest suspects for robbery and shoplifting and since then they have issued more than 100 parking tickets.

“And they have patrolled the streets of Huntingdon every shift and engaged with businesses, partners, schools, and members of the community.

Before joining as a PCSO, Amber- Rose worked in retail.

She said: “The community have been really welcoming and I hope the people of Huntingdon can see the difference we’re hoping to make.”

Rubens recently finished a degree in psychology and has previously worked in residential care with autistic adults and challenging behaviour.

He said: “Policing is about public service and duty and we’re looking forward to playing an integral part in keeping the residents of Huntingdon safe.”

Huntingdon Sergeant Dominic Carminati said: “PCSOs provide a visible, accessible, and approachable uniformed presence in the community.

“They are there to offer reassurance, defuse situations with threats of conflict, improve confidence and trust, gather information, and foster good community relations.

“The response to Amber-Rose and Rubens presence in Huntingdon has been great. They have reignited confidence within the town centre with their presence and engagement.”
