Walk-in Huntingdon hotel thief caught and jailed

Ricky Homer was jailed for 16 weeks for stealing clothes from the Old Bridge Hotel, Huntingdon, and a second theft of a handbag from a car.

A thief who walked into the Old Bridge Hotel, Huntingdon, and stole a backpack of clothes was spotted on CCTV wearing some of them.

Ricky Homer was jailed for 16 weeks for this theft and for stealing a handbag from a car.

Homer, 35, of Berkley Street, Eynesbury, broke into a car parked in Reeve Way, Godmanchester, last month (8 October) and stole a handbag containing bank cards.

He was seen near the vehicle on CCTV on a bicycle at around 6am and then again shortly after at a nearby garage where he attempted to use the victim’s bank card.

On 31 October he walked through a staff entrance to the Old Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon and stole a backpack containing clothing and other items worth £200.

He was spotted on CCTV in Huntingdon wearing some of the clothing and carrying the rucksack.

In both instances Homer was identified by Cambridgeshire Police.

At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court yesterday (8 November) Homer pleaded guilty to theft from a motor vehicle and burglary with intent to steal.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
