Enough to make you cry as onions spill from overturned trailer in Chatteris

You can fry them, bake them, and use them in casseroles – but in Cambridgeshire today they were working out how to pick them up off the road.

A lorry loaded with onions overturned at Chatteris and not only has it blocked the road but left workmen scratching their heads as to how to remove them quickly.

The junction of the A141 and the A142 was closed whilst the lorry was up righted – and the load of onions gathered up.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: " We were called at about 8:50am to an overturned tractor trailer which is blocking the road.

"No injuries reported but it looks like the road will be closed for a little while until they get it cleared."
