Police ‘throw the book’ at van driver caught committing multiple offences

“Vehicle prohibited and seized, and the driver reported to attend court. A danger removed from the roads.”

It wasn’t so much what was right with a van pulled over by traffic cops on Monday but what was right with it – and it turned out to be not much. The van was stopped in Hatfield by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit and the story first shared on X (formerly Twitter).

They tweeted: “Hatfield Team C. Number of issues with this vehicle. Weighing at 5.5T, No DL, No Insurance, No VEL, Driver Using Mobile Phone, No Seatbelt, Insecure Load.

“Vehicle prohibited and seized, and the driver reported to attend court. A danger removed from the roads.”

‘Translated’ and shared by Cambridgeshire police – and shared on their Facebook page – they explained that “the driver of this vehicle found to have multiple issues by our Road Policing Unit.

“Not only did they have no driving license and no insurance, but the driver was also caught using a mobile phone, wearing no seatbelt, with no road tax AND their load was insecure.
